Job Summary:

The VMware Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the VMware infrastructure to ensure seamless operations and optimal performance. This role involves managing virtualized environments, configuring resources, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with IT teams to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and manage VMware infrastructure components, including creating and configuring virtual machines.
• Configure communication between virtual center components and manage permissions for users.
• Create and manage resource pools, configure network connections, and allocate virtual machine attributes (shares, reservations, and limits).
• Implement and manage VMware DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler) and VMware HA (High Availability) clusters.
• Put ESX servers into maintenance mode and add hosts to DRS clusters (managed and unmanaged).
• Customize DRS and HA settings for virtual machines.
• Manage ESX server systems using SAN storage, including configuring LUN multipathing policies and preferred paths.
• Configure and manage backup solutions for VMware virtual machines and storage systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve VMware-related issues, including network problems, storage issues, and VM failures.
• Install, configure, and patch ESX servers or virtual infrastructure components.
• Perform restoration and recovery of operating systems and VMs in the event of a crash.
• Collaborate with IT teams (Network, Storage, Security) to ensure system integration and issue resolution.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors for debugging and problem resolution.
• Analyze VAPT (Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing) reports to address high and medium-risk points promptly.
• Ensure smooth execution of patch management, DR/BCP drills, and other business-critical activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a VMware Administrator or similar role in managing virtualized environments.
• Strong expertise in VMware ESXi, vCenter, VMware DRS, and HA clusters.
• In-depth knowledge of SAN storage systems, multipathing policies, and failover settings.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving VMware, network, and storage-related issues.
• Hands-on experience with backup and recovery solutions for virtual environments.
• Familiarity with patch management, DR/BCP processes, and VAPT analysis.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional IT teams and third-party vendors.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) are a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
